Dare to Dream

Please read this before you fully judge my drawing

I showed a version of the drawing to a friend and she said she didn't exactly get it. I can understand that, it's a girl in a night gown, wearing an astronaut's helmet, carrying a guitar that is spewing out glittery magical notes while holding a basketball between her knees.

"This picture makes more sense than you do!"

In the picture, it's just a girl who is doing what she wants. When she dreams, she is never limited to what she wants to do. The wings are a symbolic kind of "Rise above", "The sky is the limit". Her dreams are amongst the few things that cannot be controlled by another individual. But if you have the power to dream about them, why not pursue them?

The whole message behind my drawing is "Just do it!". It doesn't have to make sense, it can be utterly ridiculous, corky, childish, confusing, but at least it's yours!

And while drawing this... I started to think about myself. I started to think "Why am I working so hard on this..? I'm not going to win.." I've entered I don't know how many art contests and I've never won one, I think the last contest I placed in was back in the 7th grade, that was about 7-8 years ago lol.

I'm not looking for a pity party here, but it has something to do with my dream.

I've always loved art. I've always loved to draw, paint, color, and for years the biggest thing on my wishlist was a tablet (and prismacolor markers!). Because of family issues, I am not in school, but when I do go back, I will be going to school for graphic arts and design. And it may sound childish, but it really is my dream to improve on my art skills and a way for people to see it, appreciate it, or just even acknowledge it.

Even if you guys think this picture is crap, it won't stop me. I'll keep going, because it's what I like to do, its what I'll always want to do, and it's what I will always do. Unless some horrible accident happens and my arms get cut off, then I'm screwed aren't I? Lol nah. I'd probably start painting with my feet or teeth, hah.
